Surgery of hernia according to the Shouldice method

The Shouldice technique is a mesh-free, anatomically correct restoration of the anterior abdominal wall in the groin area. The hernia is closed by a surgical suture technique, which ensures high stability. Provided the procedure is performed properly by a skilled surgeon, its stability and rate of recurrence is comparable to the various mesh techniques.

Years of experience with high performance athletes (football, hand ball, ice hockey, track and field) show that the Shouldice repair technique ensures high stability in the groin region without implanting foreign material.

In my practice, all athletes in need of surgical hernia repair are generally treated according to the Shouldice method. The procedure ensures the re uptake of sport activities 14 days post-operative.
