Hernia » Rutkov-Robbins technique
Surgery of hernia according to the Rutkov and Robbins method
The Rutkov-Robbins repair technique is an open technique where the defect in the abdominal wall is repaired by implanting a cone-shaped mesh. In addition the application of a second mesh at the posterior wall of the groin region (Lichtenstein technique) is required in order to prevent further hernia to occur.
The technique convinces because of its simplicity and manageability. When compared to other surgical procedures considerable amounts of mesh material (cone plus mesh) are required during this procedure. Therefore this method is rarely applied in my practice.
